Evidence-Based Treatment of Eating Disorders: Essential Therapeutic Concepts & Clinical Skills

Discovery Counseling & Consulting, in collaboration with HCA Parham Doctors' Hospital will host  an in-depth one day professional training on the assessment and treatment of eating disorders. This training will provide extensive and thorough clinical information that can be used by a variety of mental health providers to assist in their work with this population. The training will focus on giving professionals information and strategies that can be implemented directly into their clinical practices.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:
Mental health professionals of varying degrees of experience and backgrounds who have some familiarity with eating disorders and/or interest in working with this population.

MORE DETAILS: 

This training will primarily be geared towards the treatment of eating disorders in the adult population. While an overview of all eating disorders will be provided, content will focus on clinical considerations related to anorexia, binge eating, and bulimia.

Training Objectives:

  1. Participants will review the diagnostic criteria for the eating disorders.

  2. Participants will describe the etiological factors and common medical and psychological comorbidities associated with eating disorders.

  3. Participants will outline the evidence-based psychological treatment protocols for patients with eating disorders.

  4. Participants will practice and implement the CBT-E protocol using case examples and experiential therapeutic exercises.

Free Weekly Support Group

Join us each week from 7:00 to 8:30 PM for a recovery-focused support group open to anyone struggling with any type of eating disorder as well as friends, family and support people. This group is FREE and facilitated by a licensed clinician.
